Fair Trade Campus

Chartwells is proud to support and collaborate with our partner schools on the journey to achieving and maintaining Fair Trade Campus certification.

The Fair Trade Campus program recognizes colleges and universities demonstrating strong commitment to fair trade, and we are incredibly proud of our 10 campus partners who are part of the Fair Trade Campus Program recognized for their leadership in social and environmental sustainability. These include the only Fair Trade Campus Gold and the only Fair Trade Campus Silver campuses in Canada.

Sustainability Platform

Our Sustainability Plan and initiatives address waste management, recycling, composting, sustainable purchasing policies, Fair Trade purchasing policies, and local environmental programs. This includes a focus on local food, plant forward menu options, sustainable seafood, an emphasis on animal welfare, and ethically sourced products.

Rooted in Community: Buy Local Program

The Buy Local program empowers our teams to engage and support local communities by working with local vendors and farmers to bring their products to our dining halls. Working with local vendors and farmers in communities across Canada supports our Body.Community.Planet commitment to providing food that nourishes the body, strengthens the community, and respects the planet.

Chartwells Canada acknowledges that Compass Group Canada’s main office building is located on traditional, unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, Attiwonderonk and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation peoples. Our coast-to-coast work expands across Turtle Island. We are committed to working in collaboration with and in honour of our Indigenous populations towards learning, unlearning, empowering, and shaping a better future for every Canadian in the spirit of Reconciliation.
